Encounter Data Processing System Edit 60015 Service Line Duplicate Update

Encounter Data Processing System Edit 60015 Service Line Duplicate Update:

CMS received inquiries with regards to a portion of the logic utilized in Edit 60015 with regards to the following criteria:

Area of the Oral Cavity, if recommended by ADA for Procedure Code (SV304)
Tooth Number, if recommended by ADA for Procedure Code (TOO02)
Tooth Surface code, if recommended by ADA for Procedure Code (TOO03)

For each of the above criteria, the portion regarding “if recommended by ADA for Procedure Code” may be contributing to a high percentage of the encounters who received this edit. To enable CMS time for research and balance dental encounter collection effort, CMS has taken steps to reduce the impact of the “if recommended by ADA for Procedure Code” portion of the criteria.

If you believe dental encounters which received Edit 60015 were rejected in error, you may resubmit those to the Encounter Data System.
